PAIN RELIEF with POST ISOMETRIC RELAXATION (PIR) - A Manual Muscle Energy Technique
 
In this interactive and challenging seminar, you will learn not only the science and clinical application of the incredible benefits of Post Isometric Relaxation Technique, also known in the US as a Muscle Energy Technique, but more so, how to connect with the body so you get amazing results. P.I.R.Technique is a Muscle Energy Technique tool used to improve function through the release of hypertonic musculature and has been found to be more effective than simple stretching.  An example of P.I.R. technique is how it is often applied to the piriformis muscle for a number of therapeutic outcomes, including increases in internal rotation range of motion of the hip, the relief of local pain, and the relief of pain due to sciatic nerve entrapment. Post-isometric relaxation (PIR) muscle energy technique is commonly used by osteopaths, and utilizes an isometric contractual phase followed by gentle stretching of the same muscle, whereas reciprocal inhibition (RI) muscle energy technique utilizes an antagonist contractual phase followed by gentle stretch.
 
Students will learn the proper body positioning to avoid injury and maximize their ability to work easier.
