Massage therapy professionals recognize that every client encounter is unique. These encounters impact communication, compliance and treatment outcomes. Some of these differences include gender, age, ethnicity, race, religion, and/or sexual preference in which the client will have their own perspectives and experiences.
Massage therapists have a professional obligation to develop their sensitivity regarding diversity issues in order to promote a treatment environment for clients free from stereotypes, judgment, and bias and to provide optimal massage therapy care.
